Talented rookie safety Obi Melifonwu will miss at least eight weeks of the season with a knee injury, the Raiders said today. He was placed on injured reserve which means he will miss the minimum eight weeks.
Melifonwu, who had a lingering ankle injury during most of the preseason camp, had knee surgery sometime last week. He did attend the Raiders final preseason game in Oakland last week.
To fill the roster, the Raiders activated linebacker Xavier-Woodson Luster and safety Eric Harris, and also sent tackle Denver Kirkland to IR as well.
